Community Midwives

The midwives help with the care of all our pregnant women and visit the homes of new babies for 10 days after delivery. They offer advice and help on all aspects of maternity care. They run antenatal classes and look after the deliveries of women who have chosen GP maternity care. They can be contacted by telephoning Burley Ward at the Princess Ann Hospital (80777222) who will then contact the midwives based at Pickles Coppice.

Community Nurses

Practice Nurses: are available Monday - Friday by appointment. They can help with: advice for example on losing weight, giving up smoking, or adopting a healthy lifestyle; dressings & suture removal; vaccinations for children, adults & travellers; chronic disease checks e.g. heart disease & diabetes; blood pressure monitoring; cervical smears; ear syringing; and minor illnesses e.g. stings, cuts, cystitis. Some of the above duties are also undertaken by our Health Care Assistant.
